Hmm, this sounded interesting — The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later at Chance Theater. It was Saturday night of the opening weekend of The Laramie Project at Tacoma Little Theatre. As promised, what follows are my thoughts/reviews of the Burnett Drama Department's Spring Production of "The Laramie Project". Fantastic staging makes The Laramie Project a great show, even when the script's style of introducing characters becomes a bit repetitive. San Diego's newest community theatre company is presenting a revival of The Laramie Project and partnering with the Hillcrest Youth Center to bring awareness and support for local LGBT youth. The Laramie Project is not for the faint of heart. A controversial production 'Laramie,' about the murder of a gay student in 1998, sparked a protest by fiercely anti-gay members of Westboro Baptist Ch. We thought we must have arrived too early because there was only one other person in the lobby who was not theater staff. Entering the theatre was a memorable experience in itself. Teaching for Change is honored to serve as a Lincoln Legacy Project partner for the Ford's Theatre production of The Laramie Project in fall 2013. The play tells the story of the aftermath in Laramie, Wyoming after the brutal beating and tragic death of twenty-one year old Matthew Shepard.
